My first tune / B20 non vtec all motor

Hi all This is my first tune on dyno with Ectune software, my car has a B20 all motor non vtec, 33 mm intake valves, 12:1 compression Crower cams 405A-2, Type-R Exhaust, Custom Intake, 68 mm throttle etc, p29 ecu... We have made the same setup time ago on a 1.8 B18b P75 head with 31 mm intake valves and free exhaust to the door on 2``, the rest the same setup, it made 199 whp tuned on Crome P75 ecu. The thing is that the B20 dynoed max 204.9 whp on eCtune, very low whp I spected at least 220 whp, at first it made 199 whp and a smooth curve, but when we moved the cams the curves turned on irregular lines... and only 5 whp more... tried every thing, + - timming, + - cams, and the power was always between 199-205 whp... what could be wrong? since I change the cams position the curves become irregular and there is no more power...

Im a noob, but I thought all motor setups could run leaner than what the graph is showing? Wouldnt that make more power? MantisX

yeah, but do not trust that afr is different than what my lm2 is reading and it´s taken from the end of the exhaust

so what is your A/F reading for 6500+? what are the timing values? the cal and a log would help.

what kind of header/exhaust setup are you using? when it comes to n/a setup's once you reach up to a certain power level (190-200whp) the key to gaining that extra 10-15hp is in a good custom header and exhaust and fine ecu tuning. also the intake manifold design can play a big factor as well. good power for a non-vtec setup....i like it....

hmm interesting my PLX in o2 bung and Dynojet wideband in tail pipe are like. .1 off. now my plx in the tail pipe end cant read very well at idle but good during a pull. havent put both in the end at the same time might have to try it.

The header is from a JDM Type R engine, I use a N1 Buddy club exhaust on the curves from a EG6 on 2.25``, the rest is on 2,5``, next time I think I will use a free exhaust to the door to see the differences and make a 100% fine ecu tunning. The Intake manifold is custom design with 68 mm tb, will post pictures later. Thanks

jdm r header collector is actually less than 2.5\" diameter and they don't flow as well as everyone thinks over a certain power level. it was designed for a 1.8L engine and you a running it on a 2.0L engine. you need a long tube custom header (smsp, hytech, rage etc..) with at least a 2.5\" collector and complete 2.5\" exhaust with a test pipe. i have seen dyno's of guys switching from 2.5 to 3\" exhaust on a n/a setup and gaining a good ammount of power...i would go for the minimum of 2.5\" all the way.

This is a non-vtec all motor.. and u were expecting 220+Whp? The numbers you have are impressive enough.. holy smokes.. I dont think i've seen a non-vtec all motor car make these numbers.

why not? :) Look our 1,8 B18b, 211 whp bad tuned on crome, if well tuned and a dynojet correction it could pass 220 whp on 1.8 non vtec... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEutvZXAQQc

It shouldn't matter if the engine is vtec or not to hit that 220whp mark. The main difference between is vtec=low cam lobe and high cam lobe, non-vtec= high cam lobe only. If both setups flow similar, have similar mods,cam lift and duration is similar,both should make the same power, right?

Not really Vtec heads, valves, ports and everything flow differently from a "non" vtec head.
