Water injection makes rust on the throtte body
I have aem water injection kit. We are using this kit almost 3 -4 months. we are having problem with the throttle body because of the rust inside of it. This is our second throttle body but again the same thing occured. The nozzle is located before the throttle body. Normally it is a suggested place the install it. What could be the possible reasons for this issue. Where did you installed the nozzle in your engines. I am thinking that the instalaltion of the throttle body maybe wrong because we are using honda edelbrock victor racing throttle body in my firends european race car citroen saxo not a honda based car... the first throttle body was BDL industries...

It is on the butterfly pin close to the walls. Sometimes it is being locked and stays open although the gas pedal is removed from the floor. Could it be because of the water injection kit because in aem's kit there is no valve control like other marks. I am thinking that while in the idle engine vacuums the water all the time... normally the control unit stars the pump after 10 psi of boost pressure. I am really confused....xenocron wrote:Where is it rusting? I have had my Snow Perf kit on for over a year now and I havent had any rust issues.

I was thinking like that. I have tried this also on the manifold the liquid in the tank finishes very quickly. Our mix is like this: %65 water - % 35 methanolBugermass wrote:If its before the throttle body its not likely that its pulling water due to vaccum.. another possibility is that its siphoning.. Are you running straight water? or water/meth?

Generally drinking water not tap water is there any other type water? Boost juice must be better than only water and methanol mix.Garrett wrote:distilled water? I dont think so. It's distilled water, methanol and a color additive that doesnt gum up the system is all. Meth is $2-3 per gallon. Distilled water is like $0.50 a gallon or something and you can get it at the supermarket. I wouldnt use tap water...to many minerals, additives, etc in it.utkuselamoglu wrote: Boost juice must be better than only water and methanol mix.

One issue I'm sure your having is a general methanal-aluminum reaction. Methanol WILL corrode aluminum, no question. If its pooling at any point, especially afterturning it off, your giving it a free meal. As for water, there is RO (reverse-osmosis) and de-ionized water. Both will taste funny due to virtually ZERO minerals being present in the water. Filtered water will be from 200-1000 parts per million of solids, RO water can usually get to around 5-20, IIRC de-ionized gets it down a little lower.
