What's the downside of running a small wastegate spring? I'm using a 7psi spring and my max boost is 28psi now. Question number 2 how do you determine the proper size bov spring for a tail 50mm and what are the cons of having the wrong size spring. Thanks Mike

Re: 2 questions
I'll bite! If you run too small of a wastegate spring, you will run out of boost solenoid duty cycle. My brothers DC for instance, on a 3.8psi spring, at 98% duty cycle it hits 18psi. 18psi is the highest boost we can build till we put a larger wg spring inside the gate. Then say we put a 7psi spring, 80% might equal 18psi. Its important to have the right tial blow off valve spring. Most just use the softest to prevent compressor surge. Stiffer springs cause compressor surge, weak springs cause boost leaks. Note your vac at idle or during decel or tip out. Compare to tials chart on their site, it will let you know which spring to purchase. Thanks for your time, DK92redhatch wrote:What's the downside of running a small wastegate spring?
