In Europe the B16a's run with 6's and the Type R's run 7's Sure about that!

yea, here if you go to the dealer and ask for plugs for a type R they give you 7s, LS GSR SI you get 6s, single cam you get 5s.

yep 7's for an ITR mostly because of the compression and the fact it's going to get thrashed

ok depending on how much power i make and how hard core I want to be with tuning i'll get a spare set of plugs and read em after a dyno pull.

Weird...for a Year 2000 Type R the stock plugs are a 6 heat range, but the 2001 Type R the stock plugs are a 7 heat range. WTF?

Ok the USA ITR has lower compression than the JDM one. JDM will be 7, I assume USDM will be 6. Maybe they changed their mind later on to 7. (Or maybe 2001 went to 11:1)

Just run 8s and you'll be good.. they won't foul out, and it won't hur tto have a bit colder plug in there.. I'd recommend NGK 4554s

I am using the 4554's now on a few cars but it seems that those cars has small mis fires at idle. Has anybody noticed this also?

part of the miss-fire could be that one cylinders is running leaner than the rest if your using bigger injectors. I some times have to put cars at 14-1 to make it idle smooth. I used the 4554's yesterday for the first time and everything worked out great! 4554's FTW!!!!

Thats generally a property of the injector being used...

I got no problems with these cars! They are using different injector brands and sizes. Its just that the ones with the 4554 plugs are misfiring at idle, nothing more. Plugs are looking great. The cars have to run closed loop so the AF at idle will be around 14.7:1 But at idle you can hear it puff out of the exhaust. When it happens (plus minus every 2 a 3 seconds) the AF is going mad. Sometimes it is running ok at idle but when its idling a while it starts puffing. Just like the plugs are getting dirty and start to misfire. I am afraid for the smogtest here in Holland. Maybe they have to change plugs during the smogtest.

Sounds like the plugs might be too cold, have you tried a different heat range to see how it idles?
