ECU dies at 6000

I know the fuel pump output cuts off because my pump circuit trips. The logs show queer data like there is no power at all. This didn't happen at 8 psi. I think the logs have a story to tell, but I have no idea what is going on, it's definitely not boost cut. The log is long, lost all power as I was getting on the interstate and the restart cycle is a pita while you're driving.

Here's a shorter log. I could run 10.4 psi on low cam all day long. Turn on the vtec and it won't make it past 6k over 8psi.

YUP, had this problem.. If you burn a chip it'll work perfectly.. Whats happening, is your ECu is reseting, watch in your logs right after the glitch you go into post fuel.. Try burning it to a chip and see if it glitches.. If it doesn't, then its the exact same issues I've run into on about 4 cars now.. The ostrich is sensative to RF, EMI, whatever you want to call it, and it causes the ECU to reset.. I notice on all the cars I had this issue with , it only happens in VTEC and while IN Boost.. Do you have a MSD? Is your car ODB0? Whats your setup exactly, details, what kinda spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, everything?

Now I have to figure out what changed since I took it out of service, it was running fine. Ignition - all stock, oem parts except for msd plugwires. P72 ECU, added egr control recently. NGK 5238's Old Ostrich (before they even had a sticker) Old hulog Redundant grounds on engine. 92 EG B18C1 swap I did add some more wires in the engine bay that may have contributed. I'm thinking some ferrite clamps might block some of the EMF. HAve the cars with those symptoms had a boost solenoid?

I can say the msd wires are about as bad as you can get interference wise, never heard of this issue with the older ostrichs'

I had this same problem.... Lots and lots and lots of searching. Solution was a new distributor... Tried with MSD and without, different spark plugs, different brands of spark wires lower boost, grounds on unimaginable places... Weird thing is no probs when running on C***E... But after changing the dist assembly all problems gone.... Weird. On a side note one thing left that isn't disturbing, car is equipped with an Apexi AVC-R. It shutted down when the ecu restart was taking place, and although the ecu doesn't restart anymore AVC-R keeps shutting down.... There is something there but....

I just had the same problem. Trying to tune with Ostrig 2.0 car would cut out. I sometimes seen the VSS drop to 0 on the log. then I burned a chip for the car and it does not cut out. I will try a distributor tommorow also.

does you ostrich is built inside an ECU? or open case?

i have experienced this exact same behaviour 2 years back with another CRX running a BRE tuned PW0 ECU with 29C256 and later ostrich one. above 6000 rpm.. VSS drops to 0. Engine loses power for a split second. never sorted it out as that crx was sold in parts shortly after. same ecu moved to my current crx... not a single problem anymore. now running eCtune... still no single problem. so the fact that the same ecu only show problems in one car makes me suspect the wiring of that particular car.

Yes the wiring is definatly suspect on this car.

IT IS the wiring, moved all parts on another car except the wiring, problem gone! But is i said before it ended up being the wiring inside the distributor...

Problem solved. Solution: Magnecor plug wires, digikey ferrite clamp kit installed.

where'd you put the ferrite clamp?
