closed loop AFR and cat converter

Post by EITCP »

Does anybody has any experience if AFR in closed loop (if you have WBo2 for closed loop input) around 15.5:1 can damage cat converter?

Stock or high flow? I dont think 15.5 is going to hurt a cat converter...a lot of cars out there run way leaner these days.

Running rich is what will kill your cat. Speaking from experience here, I melted mine when trying to tune on uberdata back in the day.

Depending on how close your cat is to the motor, its possible but not likely that running too lean can cause EGTs high enough to overheat your cat.
