Interesting note about the use of HID kits....

Post by JaredKaragen »

I have come across this issue many times. I have worked with enough different customer cars that I have seen a correlation. Every single time I have tuned a vehicle with a demon, I have encountered connectivity issues with the demon if the user had HID lighting active. I have tried every remedy (I have ferrite beads on every end of every cord on my tuning gear to give you a taste of the scope I speak of). In many instances, I have to switch to my ecu & ostrich1 to avoid this issue. I have also noticed vehicles running the substandard/cheap kits tend to have radio reception problems and strange things happening when street tuning at night or with the lights on in general. I just wanted to pass this observation... Many of the aftermarket HID light ballasts, put a very bad noise throughout the ground/power system on the vehicle. My boss's porcelain doesn't get reception on semi-strong FM stations with his lights on. I am beginning to put them on the level as a MSD ignition box.
