Changing Oils up with higher perfomance motors?
I'm wondering, with a fairly new motor...semi built...the stock k20a2 oil is 5w20...however ive been told that i should use 10w30 instead since im looking to push around 400whp on 14.5psi. what do you guys think?

ive heard royal purple is good stuff... someone recommended that i use natural oil instead of synthetic...however the motor parts im using are used exept for the pistons and rods and such that are going into it. i usually use Mobil 1 tho. didnt know if using the forged internals...would make a difference...+ the boost i know increases the heat.

Royal Purple versus Jiffy Oil versus ENEOS on a STOCK DPFI 1.5L Motor...draw your own conclusions on the actual quality of RP (puke).BRMS wrote:How accurate was the build compared with factory tolerances? That the biggest issue on longevity... if completley within spec and machined properly.. id run royal purple 5w20..

we gained over 7 whp on our turbo engine with RP over 2 other brands... have you ran RP in setups over 500 whp? and on another note.. we had a setup that the oil pump gear shattered and we drove over 10 miles with no oil pressure and no bearings were scared. . results may vary of course.. do an experiment... take your new oil and mix it in a flask with water.. shake it up and let me know your results.. http://royalpurple.com/techrp/summary.html http://royalpurple.com/techa/whyrpa.html
