Vtec disengages during shifts

Post by Richie »

like it says, Im getting vtec disengaging during shifts, and I try to look what could be making this,a nd on the settings I see that (disengage vtec below minimum load) is greyed out. So that confuses me even more, Do I have to set minimum load to below highest vacum value I get during shifting, or would that still disengage vtec regardless. I don´t want it to disengage on and off until I go below the rpm threshold. I can see how that on and off behaivor can wear things out..

my log is somewhat big tho (1.3MB), and I don´t know how to shrink it to just where the pull is. i wasnt able to do a 2 to3rd pull until right at the end, so you can just go to the end of the log and find it. Also I notice some ign spikes, why would that be? Idle and bat table havent been dialed in right yet, just updated to r15 and wanted to test. Anything else that you can see in my cal, let me know.

Normal, map goes to 159mbar, tps = 0% and your low load setting is 5500rpm with 40%tps. So anything under 40% tps disable vtec.

I thought that was only to engage. so to correct this I would just set low load to 0% tps? what about high load? thanks

Well, you also have the load condition. But what's the problem with vtec disengaging ? The TB is close anyway. And it engages as soon as you put your feet on the throttle.

why would you want to stress the rocker arm vtec assembly in that way, and also the rapid on and off of the solenoid, briefly causes a drop in oil pressure. I had this problem in crome when I was N/A and then I enden up getting the vtec pressure sensor cel most of the time, turns out when I rebuilt the engine I had a spun #4 main bearing. Theres a reason for the disengage below rpm threshold
