tuning tip out

Post by Maddog20 »

I never experianced issues during Tip-Out. Should I leave the default settings of tip-out disable@1900rpm and 0% fuel? I guess I dont understand what should be happening during tip-out or exactly what it is? I thought when you let off that throttle you would want to cut fuel? thx

yes; but in some instances or tunes, you will see a big rich flood before fcut hits; tipout was added to help correct for this... I see pig rich when I lift off the throttle... anytime and any amount I lift off the throttle.... it helped big time.

Oh so the time it takes to meet the fuel cut parameter is what tip-out is for So what is a good A/F target?

Well, there is no target really; it's just to help tune out excessive richness when lifting off the throttle on some setups.... most fcuts don't need to be messed with much after tuning the maps... More of tailored to driving style/conditions.

OK - A little help here. I have been battling the issue with excessive richness whenever letting off the throttle. I see that the injector duty cycle comes immediately down to 0%; however the wideband reports rich (11 to 12 AFR) for a second, the car would buck a little, and then the AFR would come down to 20+, where it is supposed to. I am wondering where this tip-out setting is at?? Is it the fuel cut feature (mine is currently not disabled / checked)? If I want to tune out the off-throttle richness, do I disable the fuel cut and tune (lean out) the columns below 200mbar? Or, should I in conjunction set the load to something like 80mbar so the columns below 200mbar are \"activated\"? I will give it a try soon. Thanks! Derek

I made some changes to the calibration and was able to tune out the off-throttle richness. The problem that I was encountering was related to the Injector Offset. I suspected that the battery offset was set a little too large and was not able to quickly come back down during injector shutoff during decel. I was able to back the offset down two points and readjust the entire map. After the adjustment, and find tune the first two columns in the map, I was able to get nice tip-out AFR and no more jerkiness. I did not use the FuelCut settings however. I am thinking to disable the FuelCut to further fine tune the tip-out. As for now, it is night-and-day better. Hope this helps someone out if they can't seem to tune out the tip-out richness and the consequent jerkiness. Derek
