moates.net in file menu--> read chip

Post by combz »

Go to file menu, moates.net, and the option i have available is \"read chip\" i was wondering how this works? I've had an ectune chip that i have been wanting to get the .cal off of for almost 2 years, but not able to do it with pro license. How is this feature used? Can i get the .cal off the chip somehow with it? If so what do i do? Hook up my burn1? anyone know?

Pro versions only read .cal and chips are burned as .bin. Even if you were able to get the information from the chip onto your computer, you wouldn't be able to open it with the Pro software.

yeah..i was hoping that wasn't the case.. i don't see why not though.. Like i have a chip that has my old tune on it. That i paid for to get tuned. I want to see whats on the tune. I figured i could somehow read the bin off the chip, and open it in ectune..that would be nice. I was hoping that when i clicked read chip in the ectune file menu, it would pull up some window that says \"plug in your burn1, and place chip in burn 1 unit\", then \"click 'read' button to read chip\" then when i clicked read, it would read the correct memory locations from my SST chip, and i'd be able to use the .cal file!! that way its still a secret how the .cal is written to the binary.

If you paid to have your car tuned then you should be able to contact the tuner who tuned the car and have him send you the .cal through e-mail.

that is if you were on speaking terms with him. which is not the case. In a perfect world this would happen.
