SOLVED! High cold idle that wont respond issue!

Post by Hybrid96EK »

Long story short. OBD2 LS engine in a 96 EK hatch. I couldn't get the cold idle to set correctly. Nothing seemed to change anything. In my troubleshooting stages, I waited for it to cool down then fired it up. IACV unplugged it still idled fine! So I tightened up the idle screw, still fine! So I covered up the whole throttle body with my hand... STILL idled!traced it down to the pcs. inverted it and cold idle was perfect. once warm though it opened the pcs and messed up warm idle. unchecking invert fixed this, so I disabled it. Will see how this works in AM. If this doesn't work then I will just plug it.

So it was the purge valve? Good thing you found the problem.

yes. It would come on on cold start and create a HUGE vac leak.

I basically disable the purge by all the cars I tune. I never encountered any problems with it.
