Alternator control issue or component failure?

Post by greasemonkee »

For a couple weeks now I've noticed what appears to be a lazy alternator. Once the engine drops to idle sometimes it will quit charging completely, apply a load (headlights, heater blower, ect.) and it will come back to normal voltage. Likely to be one of two things - alternator control issue or simply an alternator on the way out? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

ALT control works fine.. Make sure you leave it enabled, if you disable it, the alt output will be reduced greatly...
