I know theres really no other way to tune timing with out a dyno but for those who've tune many cars on the street. I would like to hear your opinion please Ok a B18C1 running a P72 rom and running 1 degree of timing retard per 1lbs of boost. AFR are at 11.5 under boost all the way up to 7.5psi. Is my timing on a pretty safe setting for a street setup?

1 degree per lb, especially if you have ignition adjustments disabled is very safe in eCtune, yes.

Honestly; you will feel and hear it... if you add timing and fuel slowly; just pay attention to the feel and sound... I can clearly hear it and feel it (for hard of hearing I cann hear higher pitches in my bad ear pretty good) and it sounds like bolts bouncing in the motor; and like a hammer hitting a piston. Nice knock detection systems are available, but are rather expensive; but I would rather buy a dynopack

i use a home made det can, works really well.

I just went from 1.25 to 1.0 and what a difference does it makes under boost! Plugs still look OK but its really hard to hear any knocking if there were any especially when the damn wastegate opens. Still not sure what xenocron was suggesting for me to disable though

OK i disable it. I left the settings at 1031mBar though. That should be ok right since thats the last of my vacuum column?

Interesting.. I didn't disable the timing corrections. I always thought you could run a little bit more timing on the b series, like .75 per lb retard. Here are a couple timing figures from my high cam ignition map. 26.75 degrees @ 7.72psi 22.5 @ 11.44psi 17 @ 17.19psi 12.5 @ 22.92psi I honestly don't hear any det and my plugs look great. I stole these timing figures off my crome tune that I paid for and ran around 8k miles on. I'm pretty sure my old tuner would add more timing in the 10th column smooth it out then do a .75 retard or progressive retard. I'd like to know what everyone thinks about this. dk
