unsteady idle

Okay I got the car to start and idle on 1000cc injectors. Had to set the offset to 28 and mess with fuel trim. Will get the car to idle at 15.0 but once in a while car pops thru the exhaust and just runs weird. Then went to drive and tune it and it started to run all messed up, afr started to shoot back and forth. What should I do now?

I have 1000's in my car and while it will idle in the 15's there will be the occasional pop like you describe. I found mine idles smoothest around 13.4afr. Remember those big injectors have a lot of mass to control at low pulsewidths

This is what I was going to say. I don't have 1000cc injectors but I have heard this from other people pretty often.

yes yes and yes, richen up the mixture at idle, and it should smooth out... look away from your wideband at idle and just slowly raise the fuel in that area until the engine smooths out.

yeah, some you can get to idle without misfires at 16:1, some at 13:1...

Hi, I just got ectune and planning to use 1000cc's as well, can i get a leaner idle than 13's afr if i use an injector driver, and anyone here using an injector driver. tnx

I had 1 car with 1200cc's from RC which past the dutch smog test in closed loop! So it can be done.

The one time I did a test with an injector driver, it was more of a pain than with our usual high impedance injectors. It was as if the minimum opening time with the driver in place was too much... quite annoying. I never found the solution though; customer had an AEM unit and I only plugged in my P28 to see if I could control idle better. Well, unfortunately I couldn´t... /Allan

My poor engine has seen several configurations. Even with 310 RC's idle wasn't oem smooth, later went oem 240's and it was smooth again - even when I had the turbo paraphernalia in place at a later date. Now with 750 RC's she wants pig rich at idle to smooth out. Even at stoichiometric afr's the exhaust wreaks of hydrocarbons. I propose that the atomization of this class injector is crap and only gets worse from here. I just wonder how you guys are avoiding the afr drift with increasing IM temps (not air temp) to allow a tighter, richer idling window.

friends of mine who regularly tunes hondas stay away from rc's...

I have found that if you lower your fuel pressure you can get it to idle at a higher afr. make sure your fuel pressure isn't to high, what happens is the injector is somewhat weak at idle and the fuel pressure can accualy close them, and cause it to pop and buck.

I am using 1000cc presicion injectors with oem honde resistor box. After having 14.0 air/fuel ratio the engine having pops and misfires. I think with those low impedence injectors, there must be some more fuel at the idle...

running 1000cc PTE injector with FJO injector driver 15 idle no pops

What kind of plugs do you have? Could be some small misfires.
