MIL Shiftlight not working

Post by 2bfi »

Under Parameters/Features/MIL ShiftLight, I have \"enable MIL shiftlight\" checked. Shiftlight rpm is set at 8296 rpm. Myy rev limiter is at 8686rpm, ignition cut. I was able to hit the rev limit without the MIL lighting up. The bulb is good coz it lights up when I turn the ignition on. Next I lowered the shiftlight rpm to 3000 rpm. The tach was already over and still no light. Is there something I'm missing?

So your saying if you have it set at 3000rpm and your tach is showing 6000 it will not be lit up?

don't rely on the tach in the car; it can be VERY off... I have found that the MIL shiftlight can be 300-600 RPM off in different situations. try lowering it by 100RPM each step; it will probably start working.

For a rev limiter set @ 8800rpm, I usually set the shiftlight @ 8200rpm. Then, it will light up at 8600rpm. Strange but true... just accept it..

ok, let me try it at a lower rpm than the desired trigger rpm. In my 2nd test above, I set the limiter at 3000. When the tach showed 3500 rpm, I let go and assumed it wasn't working.

All ECU's are different, the component alignment within them will vary response time. The previous one I used was quick and the rev limit cut quick, but now I have a sluggish turd.

It still doesn't work. The MIL shiftlight was set to 3000 rpm. I was already at 5000 rpm and still no shiftlight. It can't be that far off can it? Does it matter that my ecu is a JDM P30? The MIL shiftlight worked with C***e and AEM EMS. So, I'm sure the ECU is capable of it and the vehicle components are good. I've included the cal file below in case that would help. TIA

I didn't use the MIL for anything else. None of the GPO's are activated. I'll also test if the gear based option works.

Enabling MIL Shiftlight alone doesn't work. However, enabling both MIL Shiftlight and Gear Based Shiftlight works.

This was working in r8. Now with r9, it's back to the old problem. Plain MIL Shift light doesn't work. Gear Based MIL Shift light works.

nothing changed in the rom regarding MIL shift. it's still the same as 60 years ago:). just double check your settings. It's working in my race car.
