I have one laptop, but my HDD has 2 partitions, one with Vista and the other with XP. Can i use ectune on both OS with the same license? My original license was for XP, should i just re-register ectune in Vista? will the license in XP still work after?

Yea i tried it last night and it doesn't anymore, at least not for me. My original XP license works under XP no prob. but in vista the license causes a MSGID 004h error, if i remove the license from the ectune folder ectune works fine, but it's just the datalogger version. I didn't register ectune under vista though, i'll try that later.

we won't supply 2 license for 1 user.

So what happens if i switch from XP to Vista? I would have to re register because the XP license doesn't worn in Vista, right?

then you have to request a new license.... I say choose one. PErsonally, it worked great on Vista... had no major issues OS related at all... just minor BS =) Depends on what you like! As soon as possible, (when .net 3.5 is supported) I will be running eCtune under WINE on Linux =B But that's me =)

Holy crap, is it really going to .net 3.5? That would be sweet to run it under wine. Would love to dump windows off of my tuning laptop.

have you tryed with mono yet? i think it supports a subset of .net 3.5... might be enough.

2.0 or 2.5 is supported... never had any luck with mono... always wine. I use Fedora... nice and complete package, though things are kept in odd places. I know peeps are still working on porting 3.0 and 3.5 to wine... it just takes someone with devoted time =/

I could do it, but it will be a pain. a real pain. and to be honest not quite worth it.(yet) too many changes coming at this point. and would need access to the source, and i think the copy protection that calvin is using may NOT even work right. I use my ectune in a VM of a super stripped down XP. (virtual Box). if this issue get bigger, i'll revisit a conversion idea and get with calvin.

no the problems are more like API issues moreover anything else.... that would be my guess (never looked at a .net dev kit)

to be honest the only real API that we would have a problem is the security, i'm pretty sure com port access didn't change.
