Getting Started

I just started tuning with ectune. I have a 2000 SIR with a turbo setup on built LS vtec. I am currently running an old tune from uberdata that works well. I made up a base map and the car will start up but will not idle. If you hold down the gas it will continue to run like poo until you let off then it dies. I have not set up the base timing or done any of that stuff that most likely needs done before starting the tuning process. Is there a tutorial for beginners that goes over all the stuff you need to do to get the old car dialed in and idling? good links perhaps? thanks much!

search, I'd say. There is a guide for sure. WRT your idle problem.... are you sure you selected the correct injector size? How about you cams? Are the very aggressive causing the idle region to be very lean?

What is your wideband saying when it wont idle? I'm guessing you might not have one and its leaning out. If you set up your basemap correctly, try adjusting your overall fuel trim in 5-10% increments to get it to idle. You can get to the fuel trims by clicking 'Tools' at the top menu bar, then clicking 'injector calibration' You need to get a wideband hooked up and wired into one of the inputs of the ecu so you can graph out your air fuel ratio so you can fine tune and pinpoint areas that need fuel, and areas that don't or need fuel taken out. Hope this helps, dk

I wish there was a tutorial as you say but I don't think you will find one. But you must know that most of the people will try to help you if you ask :)
