SCC Custom Lock: What's it for?
I read this old thread: http://forum.ectune.com/viewtopic.php?t=970 From what I understand SCC Custom Lock, when set at 16 deg, and activated, should make the engine run at 16 deg timing. The screen also says \"same as ign sync tool.\" My timing table has 17.5 deg in the idle region. So I activated the SCC Custom lock which is set at 16 deg. The timing light showed no change. However, when using Timing Sync from the Tool Menu, I can feel the engine speed slow down, and Display shows timing at 16 deg. Verification with the timing light shows 16 deg. SCC Custom lock didn't have an effect. What is this parameter for?

Its used to change the timing value you sync up at. Sometimes people want to sync up to a different value because of aftermarket crank pulleys with different timing marks. Its easier to figure out were 8 degrees is on a pulley as opposed to 16 degrees when having to make your own timing marks for instance. Hope this helps, DK

Sorta.. This is so you can jump the Service Check Connector and it will lock the timing for you just like the lock timing feature does in the software. So if you work on the car and need to sync the distributor timing again, you don't have to hook up your laptop to resync timing. This is more for tuners to enable so customers on a chip can resync their dizzys if they have to take it off for some reason..

Good point, I might start doing this for customers..Bugermass wrote:So if you work on the car and need to sync the distributor timing again, you don't have to hook up your laptop to resync timing.
