ROM 49 (R8 T5) bug report

I didn´t have nearly enough time to do a full test today, but I managed to find a bug. ROM 49 is unable to start up properly on my own race car. Tested on 46, 47 and 48.1 as well - all booted without problems. Symptoms - with ROM 49 and my usual CAL, this happens at KOEO: 1) Check engine lights for the usual duration. 2) Immediately after that (at the time I had expected the usual two check engine light \"blips\"), I hear my boost solenoid clicking for a couple of seconds (during this, check engine light is off), 3) then the clicking stops, and Check Engine light remains on. 4) At this point, the datalogging in eCtune connects/disconnects continuously at about a 1 second interval. At no time did I see the two \"blips\" on ROM49. I can re-test later (probably in the weekend) on another car/ECU. Now, assuming ROM 49 has been tested before, I have a wild guess.... I have my EGT logging converter connected to the D12/EGR lift input. On stock code, the ECU will not boot up unless voltage on this input is normal = 2.5 volts. A while back, this was the case for the eCtune ROM as well, but you fixed it. Could this have become \"unfixed\" again somehow? One positive note - auto detect worked flawlessly on R8 T5. /Allan

I experienced the data logging oddity also, I also noticed I had some issues with the check engine light, not the same as you, Mine would stay solid, Then it would start working, I did see the two blips some times. Not every time. Also the fuel pump would not prime correctly every time I cycled the ignition. I also noticed the tps based service connector did not work. I thought this was an issue with the ecu, I guess not. Calvin I did not get the car I was supposed to do yesterday because I was having these issues, I thought it was his ecu, so I told him I was going to get my ecu and test. So I am going back today to try with a 48 rom on his computer, If you need me to test anything I would be glad to, E-mail me if you need anything, Hope this helps!

I street tuned a D16Z6 yesterday with this rom. The car was stock + turbo. I had no problem and I was using the ELD pin as WB input.

Tried again today with no luck, But if I start with a 48 there is no problem. I am getting almost exactly the same problems as bindegal. Bindegal, Are you running vista? That may be the culprit. Just a thought.

I agree, this cannot be O/S related. Remember, earlier ROM versions booted the ECU fine during my tests. Either way, this was done on XP... Good to hear that at least Nick has no problems with it. It would be good to hear from others too - maybe this could help in narrowing down on what ever is causing this. /Allan

Weird, I was using a p72 ecu, with P72 timing and fuel with a stock map sensor with boost enabled. Do not know If that info will help but I am just posting information to try to help. If you need any other info let me know.

Today, I confirmed the problem on my race car. Same problem. Also tested on a customer H22. No problem here. Then re-tested on my race car with a modifieed 49 ROM, Calvin made today. The modified 49 ROM seemed to solve the problem. Yeay! /Allan
