eCtune running on Wine...

Post by JaredKaragen »

Well; I am biting the bullett, and I am going to see if I can get some sort of .net emulation under linux to run eCtune in Wine. I know there are some gurus out there that would love to be off of an MS OS and still be able to tune; and hell, maybe it will be possible. I am currently installing Fedora core 8 to see if I can get it to emulate. I will post results, and am interested in other's thoughts/input about doing this =)

K, Well some good, and some bad; I need to try a few things, but Wine can run and process a .msi, so the installer is working; but it's the .net fix that it is trying to install; and it hangs installing saying: \"Setup has detected that the publisher of file 'C:\\windows\\temp\\VSD8255.tmp\\dotnetfx\\WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe' cannot be verified. See the setup log file located at 'C:\\windows\\temp\\VSD8255.tmp\\install.log' for more information.\" So; I need to try installing .net on my XP boot partition; because I have Wine configured to use this Partation as the virtual Wine root... so it's going to be kind funny if I can update .net onto the XP installation for Wine to use on Linux. Hopefully it will work....

Well; it seems more difficult than I imagined. I installed Mono which is the Framework 1.1 frontend pack; and it did help a bit, but the framework2.0 is not yet implimented, not to mention 3.0 and 3.5 I will hold out for a solution as I myself have been trying to lean away from MS products, even though Vista isn't that bad of an OS, and it itself is pretty stable... with the drawback of being a memory and processor hog.
