How many of you disables the ELD?

Post by cquence »

During idle, my AFR are pretty much in 14.4-14-9 open loop even when the cooling fans come on and off. Looks like my battery offsets are good right. With the ELD on, I get this annoying 300rpm drop or so whenenver I load the alternator up with electrical load like turning my head lights on. I've played with IAC duty cycle and raising the idle rpm a little bit but its still annoying I can still feel the rpm drop pretty drastically. When I disables the ELD the rpm drop is minimal. Is it ok to leave it off completely?

What does Alternator Control do. I disabled it too like you recomended Is it this when the ecu commands the alternator to increase full fielding because of the increase in electrical load like turning the rear windshield defroster?

if you disable it and your draw on the battery is greater than the output of the alternator, you battery will go dead. ALt control tells the alternator to increase output when the load is greater. At least thats what I've seen from enabling disabling it. Better off leaving it enabled. I've had several customers in the beggining complain their battery would not charge after I disabled it..

burgermass.. don't see wrong things... if u disable it always charge full load(jdm/edm). On usdm it lowers the charge voltage when output is active(high)

i have both {eld and alt control} disabled. it would run somewhat funny with the eld enabled and sometimes even send a cel...but only on my laptop and not on the cluster. :? no issues with the battery going dead.
