pwm boost control

Post by glove »

In the software, under electronic boost controller in parameters, ive read xenocrons site, and there is no help on the ectune site, but i see 4 windows, wastegate activation = i know this is what spring you have in there duty cycle = i know this is how you choose your boost level now the other 2 ebc activation fastspool duty can anyone give me a definition of what these 2 settings do? xenocrons site says what to set them at, but it doesnt say what effects they will have when you play with the settings. just looking for a definition of what they are. searched like crazy but couldnt find anything about them.

AFAIK... ebc activation=the load (mbar) at which EBC will activate. Set to somewhere jjust above 1000mbar to avoíd the solenoid clicking when you´re at KOEO which is really annoying with some of the boost controllers out there. fastspool duty=the duty cycle used between the \"ebc activation\" and \"wastegate activation\" to allow faster spool-up. /Allan

ok, so I installed my solenoid today, and I cant seem to get it to work properly, i set it to activate at 900 mbar, so i would know wether or not its working at KOEO, so its clicking like a wood pecker, really fast, doesnt matter what i change the duty too, changing the duty only changes the pitch of the pecking, so i think thats working properly, heres the problem, it seems to spool slower then it did before with just the wastegate, but that might just be me, ive put the duty at 1% and have gone up from there, and no matter what i put, it will always hit the boost cut at 13 psi, and no matter what i put in the fast spool duty, it doesnt change anything. wastegate is at 10 psi, so why would 1% duty make it hit boost cut at 13 psi? and i cant get it to spool any faster than before, xenocrons site says to put ebc activation right below my desired boost level, which my target is 12psi. people on ectune forum say to put ebc activation at 1050 mbar, which is it? and it seems like 13psi boostcut is SLOWER then the 10 psi off the spring i had before? any input would be appreciated, there needs to be a guide that explains how this is supposed to work.

The EBC hardware guide contains pretty much all the links & info you need to get started. http://forum.ectune.com/viewtopic.php?t=217

ok guys, still cant get this thing to work properly, I am completly stumped, need some advice, ok, so it is constantly overboosting / creeping no matter what settings i put into ectune, so i tried switching vacuum sources to port #1 on the solenoid, from the turbo nipple to a source off the IM, that didnt work, when i turn OFF/disable ebc in ectune, it still overboosts, ive tried leaving port #2 connected (top of wastegate) and disconnecting port #1(vac source), this results in it boosing normally at 10psi (wastegate spring) as soon as i connect a vac source to port 1, it overboosts, but heres the kicker, when i take out the 12V fuse going to the solenoid, it doesnt overboost, and boosts at 10psi normally when ebc is disabled in ectune, If i blow into port #1 while car is off, cant blow through Blow into port 1 while car is on koeo, cant blow through blow into port 2 while car is off, can blow through so that means its normally closed right? why is it when i disable ebc in ectune, it still overboosts? shouldnt the solenoid be dead? then why is it when i pull out the fuse, it boosts fine? all the while i can get it to click like a wood pecker normally in koeo, or while driving, im using it on egr A11, p06 ecu, components added. and to top it all off my solenoid got so hot, it actually melted the plastic fittings that go into the ports, so i replaced them with brass ones from the hardware store, i thought maybe when they melted it created a vac leak resulting in overboost, but that wasnt the problem. been troubleshooting for 5 hours. any idea's anyone??? any idea's are appreciated!!

what do you mean connections are wrong? im using the mac solenoid from xenocrons site. 1 wire is fused going to positive terminal of battery, 1 wire goes to pin A11 maybe i should try thicker wire or something? it clicks properly so it cant be wrong.

This can't be good! Probably the reason why it gets so hot!
