CEL light for O2 Sensor

Post by JBird20 »

Everytime i start my car,let it warm up and then start to drive, after just crusing for about 5 min i get a CEL LIGHT for 02 sensor. Closeup is disabled and and 02 heater is disabled. When the light comes on the car will barely rev past 1500. Once i clear the code out..its never happens again.

is it 02 sensor or o2 heater? I got it for o2 heater once... long time ago though.... Yeah, a log and .cal would definately help.

The setting are called DISABLE. So to have the heater and closed loop option turn off, the check boxes should be checked. I just mention this once again, because I made this mistake too when I used eCtune for the first time. It does exactly what is says, but read carefully what you check and uncheck. Some are called ENABLE this and that, others are DISABLE this and that.

have exactly the same case  although it does not affect the car's driveability at all whenever the CEL turns on. occasionally observing it, it happens mostly during deceleration, anytime, anywhere. but engine still runs normal/strong as usual(not like in limp mode) even if CEL's on. nothing's affected(except it's quite annoying seeing the CEL pop) so i'm not minding it much untill i find myself some free time to diagnose this further. i did try downshifting, say from 5th to 4th while slowing the car down and it does not happen, no CEL. it does turn on sometimes(not always) when i do normal decel from a higher gear. am thinking to reload a new base and the cal to start with. my parameters are on set, same as JBird20's. i've been using this JDM P30 ECU 2+ years with C***E with no issues at all. maybe i have to switch back to it, not liking eCtune, LOL! ...just kiddin! :D i still have to find out and take same logs but not so soon as i'm extremely busy these days.

I'm driving in openloop too, but have used the O2 input as beeing my wideband. So in my case there is actualy a real signal at the input.

We are getting the o2 heater error code on two of our ectune pro bundle cars every now and then. Its flipped my check engine light on three times in around 1k miles on my turbo gsr and the other shop car 2 or so times. Both cars have almost everything disabled including the heater and are using the 'race' maps. Edit: When ares come up they do not effect drive ability and you can simple reset the error codes via the computer or cycle the key to clear.

Same here. Funny thing is it has only done it under the EXACT SAME circumstances. I get tuned in Asheville, NC and usually stop by and visit my parents briefly in upstate SC before returning home in the midlands. Everytime I leave my parent's house, I have to drive over this very hilly curvy road, and literally 1.4 miles from the house when I'm decelling down a long hill, the CEL pops on with code 1, give or take only 100ft EVERY TIME! I shit you not. Like you said, nothing's affected driving wise, I just cycle the key and it goes away so I don't have to look at it for the next three hours on my way home.

I would suggest trying to get a log of when the CEL comes on; and post that with your .cal to the board for calvin to take a peek at; it happened to me before once a while back; and funny thing is I had the o2 heater turned on for a spell... and there was no o2 sensor hooked up! No CEL, nada.... but I couldn't trace it back to anything so I just kept looking out for it; I will try it again in a few days.
