eCtuning a 1997 automatic Prelude

Post by Bindegal »

Engine: H22A4 Transmission: 4-speed automatic. Is eCtuning this car possible? I have never done an automatic before.... For the moment I am assuming the car has a TCU but I´m not really sure. Owner complains about the transmission hesitating on down-shifts and vtec switchover probably needs some attention too. Any ideas for tweaking this would be welcome :) /Allan

Does the car have ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System)? Because then I think you have a problem... ATTS is controlled by the ECU when I remember correctly? The OBD1 ECU has an internal circuit for the solenoids on the gearbox. The OBD2 ECU has an external gearbox control unit?

I´m guessing no ATTS. Never seen that on a danish car. Heck, I haven´t seen it on any car ever :) Our cars here in Denmark are taxed so hard (180% oh yeah!) that expensive options are extremely rare. /Allan

Six years ago I was in Denmark for a week or so... The only Honda's I did see were some old Accords, a few Civics 4th gen, and one ITR... ATTS was optional I guess.. Does this Lude have also the sporty automatic gearbox? There is one type of Prelude that has the option to switch between full automatic, and "manual" shift.

You'll need an Auto Conversion harness ($$$), OBD1 ECU (preferrable Auto P75) and the proper OBD1 TCU (i think prelude will work, LS might work as well.

here's a guy that did a similar thing to an accord http://forum.pgmfi.org/viewtopic.php?t=6934 I'm assuming if you need a new tcu you'll want to get a car that has similar redlines and shift characteristics that you're looking for as I imagine they're going to be coded in the tcu (not the rev limits but shift points under cuise load etc.)
