for security reasons so people cant rip or crack the software there is a monthly update and sometimes Calvin is busy and the update doesn't get out on the 25th so we might be locked out for a day but usually you get a email telling you to update the day before, the software is awesome and i would say this is the only thing that sucks about it but Calvin has to do this to protect his software so i can understand why. now for the problem i am having, this is the first time it has happened, but if you do have a ostrich it is possible for it to happen to you, if your machine id changes for some reason, it will un license the emulator, i believe that this is not a problem with the demon though. pandorasbox, i know you are considering getting ectune, and this might stray you away but dont be discouraged, this software is the best out there and it is well worth it.

So is it actually written into the program that the software will cause your car to run irradicly if it's not updated? I guess I don't understand. I do plan to occasionally retune my car but I must have consistency. This car will be relied on and I can't have myself driving down the road and all the sudden have driveability issues because I didn't update my saved tune. Would the forcedupdates only affect the software on my computer at the time of updates? Would my car continue running properly if I didn't plug my laptop in to the ostrich/demon? For $200 of my very hard earned money I expect my software to be consistent and work. I hope that didn't sound too rude but if I wanted frustrations with my engine management, they could be had for free with Crome.

no it doesn't affect your car, it only locks the software, and like i said, 90% of the time you will get the email to force update the day before, it has only happened twice to me that i got locked out because of the update and the main time is because the update takes effect on the 25th and it was Christmas. this issue is the only thing i have bad to say about the software, it is every bit worth 200 bucks, but Calvin has to protect his investment, that is why this monthly update is implemented. i read that when the software first came out people were burning chips and selling them on ebay, and people were cracking the software and getting it for free. my problem is fixed, i got a hold of the guys a xenocron and they emailed me new licenses and i am back up and running after about 30 mins.
