Questions about Ignition Step Retard

Post by Adam Hopkins »

I am wondering what settings are you running for your ignition retard? I always used around .75 per psi degrees in cr***, but I never used the step retard because of the timing issues in cr*** and i did not trust it. My setup is a b20/vtec(B16) with a pt67 turbo. Thanks in advance.

timing should be done on the dyno. MBT last resort use a detcan to hear the knock but don't push it

Typically, if you disable ignition adjustments with eCtune, I find you need to use a LOT more timing advance than with Crome... I typically get my stock vac/boost threshold number peachy on the dyno and then do a 1 degree retard and do a pull. Next run set to .9 and see the effects...continue on there until you stop making power.

Ok so you are a fan of doing retard per psi instead of doing a step retard? Thanks for the replies.

I do a linear retard until I see where the car likes to be... Then the \"tooner\" in me kicks in and I do my thing... 8)
