What Map for a B20

I am wondering what base map you guys are running for a b20 motor. Are you just using the P75 Timing? I noticed there was not a stock bin for a b20 in the setup for ectune and was wondering if it is the same because b20's and B18's are so similar. Thanks again for the help.

I usually use B18B if its non VTEC, or GSR if it is VTEC and drop the timing about -4 deg on WOT columbs and start tunning from there.

Bugermass, Thanks for your help on the phone earlier, Thats what I figured but why do you not use the P30 map for your B16's? Is there an advantage to running the P72 base? The combustion chamber is different in these heads so that means that the timing should be different between the two, Right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

That makes sense about the base code being P72 because of the IAB control, Knock, But I still do not have a clear answer about the timing between the B16 and GSR map, Thanks for the replies.

The base rom code is P72, but when you select say JDM B16 it uses the maps from that motor (native P30). The codebase and the actual maps are 2 different things. Theres no reason to run P30 rom when P72 is much more developed and has all the options you need, you can still run P30 maps on the P72 rom and its the same thing.. Really the timing will be different on a per motor basis, so by the time you get done tuning it out, it really wouldn't have matter if you started with P72 or P30.. Timing depends on the stroke, chamber, bore size, cam profile, alotta stuff. The stock maps are pretty aggressive on timing so if you try to use a stock map to start tuning say a B20/VTEC with 12.5:1 or even a B16 with high compression, your gonna want to start with less timing than stock anyways.. Especialy while tunning fuel which you could have potential lean conditions while tuning it out, the last thing you want is to be tuning your fuel map on a high comression motor with too much timing and by the time you get to your timing maps you've already eaten a layer of metal off the pistons.. ; ) Yes.. I just opened the GSR and B16 maps and compared, The gsr map is about 4 degrees higher than the B16 map, I see why I was not having to retard timing like you mentioned above. I have my answers thanks.
