It's dell precision m90. was brand new machine barely 2 months old When I came out of hibernation, eCtune wouldn't find the ostrich... it was installed and fine but just wouldn't find it.. everything was sluggish too... so I shut down again... got to work, came out of hibernation again & same thing.. everything was sluggish.. so I restarted. got to XP boot screen.. right before it goes to Windows, the screen goes dark and nothing happens... Tried safe mode it would list the last file as mup.sys tried ubuntu to get the files off... it couldn't mount the drive it says it was in use. tried to reinstall windows over, it wouldn't find the windows install. tried to format & got to 62% and froze up Hopefully he gives me better than 60g this time cause that was almost full already.

lol, Dell FTL IMHO.... They have the best cust support; and a good price; but have you noticed how many firmware/software updates and recalls they get? I swing away from them for this reason... kinda like the emachines of laptops. It sounds like a hardware error; something either being in the power distribution system on the mobo, or memory related... could be chipset to hardware config as well.. hard to tell just by a simple diagnosis; but I have noticed if a PC of any sort starts killing lappys, replace the HDD controller if possible and it will [most-likely] extend the longevity of the pc for several monbths/years, but the failure will come back... it's a curse. I have 8 laptops, and have had countless PC's that all have suffered from some sort of a HDD failure (killing/frying/scrambling data/etc)

Bad HDD.. finally got checkdisk to run.. gets to 62% and says there are unrepairable problems on the disk. New disk + hours of reinstall = working laptop again. On that note, installed 0.0.2.1r4 again and plug in OstrichII + prolific datalog cable.. datalogging works fine in automatic mode.. OstrichII connects and ostrich info shows 'firmware version 4' plus serial number & shows Ostrich Licensed.. but if I tried to pull ROM it fails saying 3x no response. bad thing is, when it fails, and you click OK to the error message, eCtune become blocked out as in vbmodal is set but the form with focus is not visible so you can't touch the rest of the application or even end it.. have to go Task Manager and kill task to get out... restart ectune and it works fine again until you try to get rom from OstrichII in automatic modem Went to settings and set Emulator manually to COM5 and it works fine.

This issue is eCtune improper handling of the situation... even if communication fails you hope it doesn't trigger the application to become inaccessible. in this case if you made changes to the ROM but not save then you lose those changes... same with the datalog you had up to that point. Also, I started getting Code 1 on decel again. I tried 'clear DTC code' while I was stopped at the light & car died completely... Is this normal or should it keep running?2kCivicSi wrote: bad thing is, when it fails, and you click OK to the error message, eCtune become blocked out as in vbmodal is set but the form with focus is not visible so you can't touch the rest of the application or even end it.. have to go Task Manager and kill task to get out...
