GSR transmission questions

Post by Adam Hopkins »

The circle track car I have been helping with is not turning as many rpm as I would like it to because it is running out of track before the corner. We are coming out of the corner around 5000 and are ending at about 8000-8100 depending on which straight we are on. We are in second gear the whole time. I am going to buy a final drive but I do not know which one to buy, the transmission is a 94 gsr(4.4 final drive). I was looking at the 4.7 or the 4.9. I want to keep the RPM around 8800 at the highest. So if I buy the 4.9 will this cause me to have to turn more RPMs than I want? Thanks for the help tranny gurus.
