so far no brake up...i think my car just hates the track.
here is the cal and a quick log. i edited the map based on this log, so it shouldnt be this rich right now. and i also richened up the vtec crossover.

when you are spinning, you arent putting as much load on the engine compared to when you have tires that will grab the asphalt. IE: WOT downhill compared to WOT uphill. Different loads.zex_cool wrote:what ? you kind of lost me here.sewell94 wrote:are you on slicks or DR at the track?? spinning street tires compared to slicks or dr hooking at the track is a completely different load on the engine, more than likely a timing issue

what type of tires were you on at the track??? spinning the tires on the street puts a different load on the engine compared to a drag radial or slick hooking at the track, load changes the tune, thats why a loading dyno is so important. Also when there is not enough load(ie spinning street tires) an engine will rev through any problem areas in the tune faster than if it is its properly loaded. You said that the car ran fine on the street but bad at the track, if the only thing that changed was your tires, the difference would be the load. I see you tuned your car on a dynojet dyno, typically non loading, so your car on the dyno and the street probably did not have the same load as the track, also 1st gear has less load than 2nd, 2nd has less load then 3rd, and so on, so that would explain why the car runs fine 1st and 2nd gear, then 3rd and 4th breaks up.
is it pretty safe to say that if all things are right via the tune (minus too little ignition) and you dyno tune in 3rd gear, if the engine doesnt like 4th gear pulls and the graph becomes choppy that you arent running enough timing? I tuned my first turbo h22 a couple months ago and i ran into this problem. 3rd gear passes were good, but i did one 4th gear pass and power was low and the graph was choppy like it did have enough ignition. But this was a friends car at 5.5psi and i know he wanted it conservative...sewell94 wrote:what type of tires were you on at the track??? spinning the tires on the street puts a different load on the engine compared to a drag radial or slick hooking at the track, load changes the tune, thats why a loading dyno is so important. Thats normally what a graph looks like when it doesn't have enough timing, another way to tell is to read your plugs, they will have the heat mark around the weld where the ground strap meets the plugs. I make this mistake mistake a few weeks back when i was tuning a pretty serious mustang, car had what sounded like a miss to it, and the plug had a rainbow around the weld on the ground strap, i added 4 degress of timing , and next pass was fine, what sounded like a miss was the burn still going on in the exhaust. I'm always bad at being alittle too conserative when i get over 4 digits in hp
how was your timing on the car with the wavy graph???

tuning via crome pro, table timing peak was 23*. 22.75 in most of vtec. 1.00* retard IIRC. It was only my 2nd turbo motor that i had tuned so i made sure that i didnt bite off more than i could chew if you know what i mean. We ran out of time on the dyno due to wastegate installation issues by a shop that will go unnamed so i really didnt get much time \"tuning\" the car than i did trouble shooting. i attached the crome .bin
