strange problem with chipped ecu..

Post by Gaskleppie »

I chipped a P28 a few days ago. Nothing special, but when I put it in my car and turn the key it pulls all the injectors wide open and sets the fuelpump constantly on! The result is that I had 1.6 liters of fuel in my engine! What the f*ck can this be? Its doing it also without a chip in the socked. Nothing seems to be burned in the ecu. Anyone any idea what might be broken in this ecu?

My guesstimate: Dried out capacitor or something else causing the supply lines on the PCB down, probably in effect killing the voltage regulator. These ECU´s are getting pretty old and we will see defective ones from time to time. I always replace the capacitor that sometimes blows up, just in case... /Allan

May I ask, what capacitor is that? I'm going to pull my ECU when I do EBC and would like to replace known weak or tired components.

Ok, Thanks guys! I have another ecu that is broken. Its a JDM P30 and the fuelpump output is broken. It does not start and stops at key on. What can that be?
