Update problems

Post by SlowBlueEgG »

Just ran a force update on ectune. After the update I could not find my old calibrations, and when trying to create a new base map everything in the map is messed up. Vacuume readings would only display in same units as boost. I have no idea what happened, but I can't get the car to run thanks to the \"new great\" update.

yeah i tried doing that, the vacuume units are all messed up. Whatever units you select for boost are the units used for vacuum too. I can select inHg for vacuume and psi for boost and it will only show up in PSI all across the board. It's very wierd. Also when I go to make a base map, it gives me extremly lean base map. Never did that before prior to update.

for 1000cc you should a offset of 15-25

tried. did not work sorry. car refuses to start with anything less then 53FV for injector offset. Tried messing with fuel. Seems like I pull fuel out off pre boost section (5inhg to 15inhg) below 1500rpm it helps it start but I have to pull a whole bunch of fuel out of those sections. I'm very confused. I was wondering if you have a basemap somewhere to make this car start and idle like it's supposed to. I've been trying to make this car idle for several days now.

I also got a question. I started new base map and set the offset to 15 like u said and the car started right up and then it died when I tried to change the offset. So I set the offset back to 15 and it wouldn't not start again. I even made a new basemap and set the offset to 15, it still wouldn't restart. Why is it doing that?

Well a couple of things: 1) Post your CAL and log file if you want useful feedback! A lot of situations can be diagnosed much easier this way. 2) A wise man once said: \"All widebands lie\". Your wideband dosen´t know how much fuel is used, it only reads O2 content left in the exhaust. This can be from a) Too lean air/fuel mixture (you already knew that) but can also be caused by b) Too much (or simply un-ignited) fuel, which also leaves O2 in the exhaust. This condition will read as \"lean\". Working with large injectors, although made easier with eCtune, can sometimes be a pain the first times you try it. The key thing is to use all your senses to figure out what´s actually going on. Do you smell unburnt fuel? Are the plugs dry or wet? etc etc. Start getting the engine to run and idle properly in its fully warmed-up state. Only then adjust battery/ECT/IAT compensation tables so it will start nicely from cold also. Oh, and another thing. If your spark plugs are drowned in fuel at some point (maybe they already have been) they cannot be trusted. This is sometimes the cause of weird problems. This is all part of the tuning process. Don´t worry it will work in the end :D /Allan
