EBC solenoid on A11(EGR) configuration bug?

Post by Bindegal »

This is sortof strange. At one point I used the EBC on the A11 output and all was well. This was likely on ROM57 or something. Now however, the solenoid configuration is reversed. As in: My solenoid is hooked up mechanically as OPEN when no current is applied. By my logic, this means 0%DC = minimum boost, 100%DC = maximum boost. Yet the opposite is the case. Except for this annoyance (contributing to blowing out the EGR circuits in 2 ECU´s thank you very much) the EBC works wonderfully. Per-gear, closedloop niceness. :D /Allan

Well sonlenoid is wired to switched 12v and A11. If set \"correctly\" the solenoid was constantly ON with boost disabled or 0% dc. Also 45% DC worked like 55%.... Lowering DC increased boost. /Allan

noticed this before, i was wondering why my solenoid was getting hot when set to 0% dc, so i put a bulb on the solenoid and it was brightly lit, so i flipped the setting around, does this mean that if you flip the setting in the next rom, i'll have to flip the switch again?

I posted this up in the boost solenoid thread and butch11a noticed the same thing a few weeks back. Nothing ever came of it though. The buttons work fine, its just that the description is switched or vice versa, however you want to view it. If you do update the rom, will we have to reselect to keep it working properly?

Will we need to change the checkbox then when the new version comes out to the correct setting?

On the new version it seems to me that it is still switched. When I had the bottom (100% duty - maximum boost, 0% duty minimum boost) option selected the solenoid was on all the time and getting hot. When I went back to the (100% duty minimum boost, 0% duty maximum boost (GM)) setting it was fine. I am using a mac solenoid on A11 like before. It seems like the radio buttons themselves and the code that goes with works fine, but the text next to them is just incorrect. Am I alone on this?
