Tested Boost Solenoids

Post by nate »

Lets get a list of tested solenoids together -- If you have a EBC setup please post in this thread what solenoid you used and any issues/notes that you may have. The eCtune EBC Solenoid is available from here: http://forum.ectune.com/viewtopic.php?p=1214 Thanks,

GM Solenoid: Works... Although i switch the lines to make it an NC solenoid. Cons: Heat sensitive!(to close to exhaust mani and it stops working, 15 cm) NC solenoid why? I dont like the idea that EBC has to work full time if you switch to an ecu w/o ebc you suddenly boost max

Here's a nice place to install GM solenoid, under the side passenger bumper. No drilling necessary, a 10mm bolt hole is already there :)

I'm hoping to avoid making another EBC thread, and this seemed to be the best place. I'd been looking to make a gear-based MBC using reed switches and magnets on my shifter (ghetto, yes, but workable), but plan on going with eCtune's EBC option. I think this solenoid valve I planned on using before will work great as well. Ingersoll-Rand P251SS-012-D http://fluids.ingersollrand.com/_downlo ... _Valve.pdf (search for the PN, p34-ish) http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/it ... 1612667260 It's rated at 100% DC, 12vdc, low-wattage, high CFM flow/cv rate, not sure if a 5-9 ms response time is acceptable, and has three 1/8\" NPT ports (N/O or N/C). Oh, and its only $28! Anyone else want to look at the info and tell me if there's a problem? I don't want to cut into the official EBC solenoid sales, but a penny saved is a penny earned.
