IAT fuel correction

Post by civic4g »

Hi Last night i've noticed that the car was running with a fuel correction due to the IAT. I think that this table may be off, for my car. This could be because of the IAT sensor location, in my car the IAT sensor is located in the intake rubber pipe when most other cars have that sensor located in the intake manifold runners and consequently the air in that location is hotter due to heat soak from the head. Anyone already had this problem? What changes should be made to the table values? If anyone could tell me the average temperature increase between that 2 points would be great. Thanks in advance

If your car is tuned with this IAT in place it should be no problem, because the mappings are already made with this IAT as input. The offset will generally be the same. In the case you have mappings based on TA sensor input, your car might be a little rich which is no danger, so no worries. Furthermore the IAT response is much quicker compared to the TA (which is the manifold located sensors name). In the past I changed from IAT to TA for looks (TA was nicely hidden in my engine bay compared to the IAT in the inlet), however Gaskleppie advised once that the IAT had faster response. And as far as I am concerned he was right. The heat soaked TA needed minutes to go down from hot city driven temps to cooler highway temps. With the IAT back in place it is a matter af seconds for the temperature readings to stabilise in my car.

I will move mine before I go to the dyno. I do think the charge piping is a way more accurate way of measuring the air temp.
